"never been hassled"
Once I was told that at the Moscow Airport a few shady guys where following me and even followed me into the restroom. But no one ever spoke to me or came close to me.

I've always had good experiences over there,in the stores, taxis, airports, the train...I love Ukraine, and if someone couldn't speak English with me,someone from somewhere appeared and helped out in some way...Ukraine,you can be proud!!
I agree with the above statement 100%. No problems at all for me. Meet some great people and some not so great.
Just keep your head up and your stick on the ice and you will be ok.
Good to hear such opinions from you guys. Imho, you have chances to meet "shady guys" not greater than most of the locals do.
A friend of mine (he's from UK, but living in Poltava) said that his hometown was even more criminal than Poltava (compare: there is a popular opinion amongst Ukrainians that European cities are much more safe).
This webcam is the greatest thing for me to relax. I put it on at work and watch it for hours. I can't view the link from Max's link due to our security. However I can view it now once Crazy linked it.' So I will keep posting in this thread to keep it at the top on the quick links.
After reading this post I have come with some questions. Since the topic is spoken of here I am looking for opinions. I have for the past 4 months been cooresponding with a woman from Poltava. In February I will be visiting her and have contracted with a men's tour. I figured this would be best as I have never been in Ukraine. Traveling in numbers, having transportation and hotel accomodations prepared for me... etc... Gathering from the posts here it seems there is some animosity towards men on these tours. My assumption is that these tours are viewed as sex tours or something even less admirable. For me this is anything but the reason I am traveling to Poltava. So I believe the question is should I reconsider and travel by myself? She knows of my traveling with the tour.
scottoleson, I think you should just tell she, that you are coming to Ukraine just to meet she and no other girls. Did you meet she on dating web-site?

Are you looking for chiepest trip? If yes, than you can use WizzAir, not bad quality for good price. Then you have several variants: hire taxi (~$100-150), buy tickets to the bus (~$14) or use micro-buses ($12).
