Hello Sam! Did you have a general interest in Ukraine or a specific one in Poltava? Just curious. I lived for a year in Poltava a few years ago but have been unable to return. So far, anyway. Have been in Bangkok for the last few years. Am hoping to return to Ukraine and try to learn a bit more Russian. I was in the preparatory faculty for foreign students at Technical University for six months the last time I was in Poltava. I wanted to return to Poltava later in the year and live there for a while again. However, I was dismayed to read about the change in visa rules. One used to be able to spend three months and then make a visa run to Poland and return for another three months. Now one is required to stay out of the country for at least three months before returning. I'm a citizen of the US and Canada and feel it's unfortunate that I have to pay the price for a squabble between the European Union and Ukraine. Apparently the change in visa procedure stems solely from Ukraine's dissatisfaction with the EU

This visa rule is the standard EU visa policy. It was implemented to suit EU conditions not for dissatisfaction.
It is good for toursits but not for anyone else.

You are wrong, John. Do your research. It was changed in retaliation because Ukraine does not feel that the EU is liberalizing their visa regime.
