Burial Mound of Russian Warriors of Poltava Battle to be Restored
Russia is going to take part in restoration of the burial mound of Russian warrior who perished in Swedish war in Poltava, reported Russian ambassador to Ukraine Vladimir Chernomyrdin.
According to the ambassador, Russian party is ready to partially finance the project of the mound restoration, the costs of which amount to $3 million, as the Poltava Mayor Office informs.
Let us recall that Poltava Battle that occurred on June 27 (Julywas a decisive event of the Great Northern War between Ukraine, Russia and Sweden. The victory of the Russian forces in that battle made the turning point in favour of Russia in that war, which marked the end of the Swedish rule as the major military power in Europe.
