QO, there is simply no comparison between "Irish" pubs and Belgian cafés. It has nothing to do with the beer on offer, Irish pubs in Belgium all carry a wide selection of Belgian beers. They're just totally different places.
FWIW I tend to go the ones near Schuman as it's not far from where I live, The Old Oak, The Hairy Canary and the other one further down the road are all good. I avoid the Wild Geese because a. I like to get change out of a 50 when I buy a round of drinks and b. I am not a 20 something stagiere at the EC.
